I’ve been trying really hard to expand my knowledge on Art History, and one of the best things about it is understanding work that deals with other work. At times this relationship between new and old can end horribly, or if done right, horribly good. One of my pet peeves is when people just use techniques for the sake of it, without fully exploring all options, but both these artists surpassed mirroring images of the past.
