FORTUNE

Fortune magazine has an interesting slideshow featuring photographs produced using Kodachrome film…including some of my favorites W. Eugene Smith & Walker Evans.
Birth of a Nation

My schedule is so crazy this week…I really want to find the time to see Birth of a Nation at MoMA but don’t think it’s gonna happen. It would be interesting to see this on the big screen rather than at home. The next showing is the 25th, with “Rebirth of a Nation” playing on the 26th.
Damn I love…
art21….Schooling me on all the artists I need to know about.
“I think there’s a fine line between perpetuating something and questioning something…and I like to get as close to it as possible”
and yes I learned about Fred Wilson today too…
Alife Gallery
I’ve got to go check this out. The combination of photographs by Kai Reagan and a graffed out room compliment each other pretty well. Check out more pics via hypebeast.

Painters
When I was a young(er) tormented artist I used to paint alot of self portraits…but I haven’t touched the canvas since maybe like 2005 in my second year of college. Lately I’ve been obsessed with the idea of me actually painting something again. I don’t think I was ever exceptionally good with this medium which is why I fell in love with photography. However, since then I’ve learned so much in terms of understanding my ideas and what I want to express through my work. So maybe I’ve come full circle lol. I don’t see myself “painting” necessarily…I just have some plans to do a project that deals with painting the figure soon. The other day I posted my Top Artists right now…Today’s list covers mostly artists that paint or draw that I want to look at a bit more before making the plunge.

The Lost Books

Artists Kyle Bean and Rob Matthews recently blogged so much about books remind me of how modern technology continually reworks the human experience and transportation of knowledge. These works are also great examples of artists working with the book as a sculptural object. (more…)
